The design principles of our new logistics platform are based on learning experiences of the past.In the past we developed large applications that covered the complete freight management processes from A to Z and we developed optimization tools that covered all functions that one could possibly need in logistics optimization. The assumption of the past was that logistics software can be standardized. But as it turned out each customer has unique needs. Standard enterprise solutions become in-stable, hard to maintain and expensive when too many different requirements are built in. In addition organizations are dynamic and new needs may come up in time that are again unique to some extent.Instead of standardizing large applications, we choose to standardize the data platform. On the platform we develop small apps that each cover certain restricted functionality. Multiple apps are used as building blocks to cover a customer need.A share of these apps is standard and there is flexibility to develop customized apps that may be unique. Robustness and flexibility are combined. Implementation projects are much shorter and easier and the apps are user friendly and affordable.
