Bottomline is a specialized Logistics Service Providor for the oil and gas industry. Most of the distribution companies of fuel stations are using Bottomline for their logistics. BlueRock Logistics has supported the development of algorithms to solve complex planning problems. As a result savings could be made in the distribution of oil and gas.
TNT Express is the European market leader in global time-sensitive express and courier services. 75,000 employees deliver 4.4 million express shipments every week. Since its launch in 2005, the GO program (Global Optimization) has saved 60 million kilometers of transport movements and 283 million kg of CO2 emissions through optimizing the domestic networks in Germany, France, Spain and Italy. BlueRock Logistics has supported TNT Express in this process and BlueRock partner Hein Fleuren is also the academic director of the widely recognized GO Academy.
WFP is the food aid arm of the United Nations. On average, WFP reaches more than 100 million people with food assistance in 80 countries each year. About 13,500 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor. Food delivered to hungry people in 2012 totalled 4 million metric tons. BlueRock Logistics partner Hein Fleuren, sponsored via the Tilburg Centre of Sustainability of Tilburg University, supports WFP in developing logistics optimization business cases and the development of education programs. As WFP aims to wipe out hunger in the world, the efficient use of resources and budgets is paramount.
Metropolitan Food Security will become increasingly important around the world. Dutch companies from different sectors established the Platform MFS to facilitate the joint creation of solutions to deal with these challenges. United Nations estimates predict that 70% of the world population will live in urban areas by the year 2050. BlueRock Logistics and Royal Haskoning DHV are jointly developing concepts for Fresh Supply Chains in various regions in Russia.
